Hide Is A Thriller With More Twists than
Lombard Street in San Francisco
If you’re looking for a thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat, Hide by Lisa Gardner is a winner. The book begins with the discovery of the mummified remains of six young girls in an underground chamber. Even the most seasoned cop, like Bobby Dodge, will carry the memory of the scene in their minds for a lifetime.
D. D. Warren hauls Bobby, a former police sniper and now a state police detective, into the case. The history between the two may hinder the two lead investigators in their search to find the monster responsible. The fact the crime scene is on the grounds of the abandoned Boston State Mental facility only heightens the alarm as the investigators attempt to determine if the serial killer is still on the hunt, or if they have a copycat on their hands.
Anabelle Granger (or is it Tanya Wilson?) further complicates the case as she unravels how many times her father ripped his wife and daughter from their homes. Why did he create new identities in different states to protect them from whoever is stalking their daughter? Anabelle is heart-broken when she discovers one of the victims is wearing her necklace. It’s the same necklace her stalker left on the doorstep for her wrapped in the newspaper comics when she was a child.
Is He Still Out There?
Is he coming after her again? Has he ever abandoned his attempt to find her and gather his new trophy? Does one of the bags recovered by the police contain the remains of her childhood friend, Dory?
I loved the twists in this mystery thriller. From the Reverend Charlie Marvin to the UPS guy, Ben, you’ll struggle throughout the book to determine what secrets hide in Anabelle’s past and present. You will battle with Anabelle as she tries to unravel her history, present, and future.
My clean readers may be offended by the descriptions of the young girls found in garbage bags in an underground chamber and some of the sexual references.
Book Description
You have good reason to be afraid. . .
It was a case that haunts Bobby Dodge to this day—the case that nearly killed him and changed his life forever. Now, in an underground chamber on the grounds of an abandoned Massachusetts mental hospital, the gruesome discovery of six mummified corpses resurrects his worst nightmare: the return of a killer he thought dead and buried. There’s no place to run. . . Bobby’s only lead is wrapped around a dead woman’s neck. Annabelle Granger has been in hiding for as long as she can remember. Her childhood was a blur of new cities and assumed identities. But what—or who—her family was running from, she never knew. Now a body is unearthed from a grave, wearing a necklace bearing Annabelle’s name, and the danger is too close to escape. This time, she’s not going to run. You know he will find you. . .
The new threat could be the dead psychopath’s copycat, his protégé—or something far more terrifying. Dodge knows the only way to find him is to solve the mystery of Annabelle Granger and to do that he must team up with his former lover, partner, and friend D. D. Warren from the Boston P.D. But the trail leads back to a woman from Bobby’s past. Is she every bit as dangerous as the new killer—a beautiful survivor-turned-avenger with an eerie link to Annabelle? From its tense opening pages to its shocking climax, Hide is a thriller that delves into our deepest, darkest fears where there is no one to trust, where there is no place left to hide.
