New Name & New Look
Join Me on the Road to Hopeful Inspiration
I’ve created a New Name and a New Look for my Website. I hope you enjoy the many changes I’ve made. For those of you who have always dreamed of becoming an author, entrepreneur, or blogger I built all of this myself. If someone with a traumatic brain injury can create a website, you can too! Finding the courage to follow your dreams as I have is only the beginning of the hopeful inspiration you will find in these pages.
I began my journey with the idea that I could develop a website to help anyone who has ever been abused, bullied, or held back due to disability as I was. It was a great idea for starting a website, especially with the launch of “Elle Burton and the Reflective Portals”.
The problem I encountered was that people were hesitant to communicate with me on these tough issues. I understand that. It took me years before I became comfortable talking about my abuse as a child. I think it took even longer to admit that I also struggled with bullying.
During the past two years, I’ve come to realize all these things are interrelated. The most important thing to anyone who has experienced abuse, bullying, or disability is “HOPE”. Without hope, our entire world has very little meaning for us.
Once I realized that hope was the foundation for everything, I knew I had to create a website to provide hopeful inspiration for my readers. That was when I hit a tremendous roadblock. One doctor decided I needed to be told I would not improve from the injury in London. I was immediately thrown back into the abyss I suffered after the car accident. I did exactly what the man said. I went home and stayed in a chair all day because he told me I shouldn’t walk anymore.
That directive caused me to lose all the mobility I had. Even though it wasn’t perfect, I was still participating in life. Today, I can’t walk without a cane. I don’t want you to ever experience having someone steal your hope in life.
It takes courage to stand up to the experts and do what’s best for you. I am now in control of my destiny. My hopeful inspiration remains with my family and you, my readers.
And so I welcome you to hopeful inspiration. Be sure to go to the Quotes page when you need a quick “pick-me-up” or when you need a big dose of “Hopeful Inspiration” in order to get through another difficult day. I’ve had those difficult days and I truly believe I can help you get through them too. Take a minute and share the quotes page with your friends on Facebook or whatever social media sites you participate in. They might need some hopeful inspiration today too.
