Peg’s Famous Holiday Fudge

I love Christmas! While I was working, made my famous Holiday Fudge for my key accounts every year for Christmas. My customers didn’t need me to set up an appointment in December. I could walk in at any time without and appointment because they knew I would be carrying a large container of fudge and whatever gift the company had chosen for customers that year.

I love this recipe because I make it before Thanksgiving, put it in Tupperware containers and in the extra refrigerator in the family room for all the holidays. If someone stops by unexpectedly, I can cut some for a plate and have an instant holiday treat. The fudge stays fresh and beautiful for up to 4 months in the refrigerator. It doesn’t get any more perfect than that! (You see, I make enough during the slower days before Thanksgiving to last through my chocolate desires right up until Valentines Day!

The Recipe for Peg’s Famous Holiday Fudge

Use a very large bowl to prepare your Holiday Fudge

Place the following in a very large bowl…the biggest you have:

24 oz. Hershey Bars (I had to change the recipe to utilize ounces because every year Hershey reduces the size of the large milk chocolate bars)

2 small jars marshmallow creme

2 cups chopped walnuts

12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 stick of butter, less 2 Tablespoons

In a heavy, deep saucepan combine:

4 1/2 cups sugar

1 can of evaporated milk

Bring to boil. Boil vigorously for 5 minutes, then pour over the ingredients in the bowl and stir until completely mixed. (You may need to enlist a stronger arm for the stirring as it is a rigorous workout!”)

When thoroughly mixed, pour into 2 buttered cake pans. Can keep covered tightly in the refrigerator for up to 4 months.

Over my career, I purchased over 500 pounds of sugar to make fudge for everyone for Christmas!
